Happy Papa's Day!!

Well, what a weekend for Papa!

I recieved 2 win notifications totaling over 3 grand, both for Papa!

I will post as soon as it is all official, don't want to jinx it, but, I bet most of you can guess what the big prize is since it was all because of YOU! And even though it was suppose to be going to Mason, he traded it to Papa for the car! Hmmm, the car is worth MUCH more! But, we can't ship it down to him or fit it in the car. So, we will keep it and save a TON of gas by Papa using it. He is totally excited, so is Mason now that he has a car to use!

So, a huge thanks to all of you for making Papa and Mason's weekend! I can only hope everyone elses is as wonderful as ours is turning out to be!

AMTRAK is flying us on a trip, and Mason is driving on his first ever Road Trip!

Wow, what a crazy last few weeks it has been!

First I want to send out a HUGE HUG to Amtrak for going beyond the call of duty and making it so I can fly out to see Sarah since I could not take a train trip anywhere because of my disability!

When I entered the "Journey to the Center of the Earth Contest", I was not this disabled. I don't enter contests I know I cannot use or take. That would be a waste of time! But, when I tried to tell them I could not accept because of my recent disability and the rules stating I cannot upgrade so that I could handle the long rides, have a place to stay for the day long layovers or ability to sit on long bus rides they would not take "No, I can't do it!" for an answer.

Lena was insistent that I won and that I was going to take a trip to be able to see my daughter like I had planned but had thought I would have to give up. So, Lena worked her magic and got a hold of Debbie and they gave Greg and I round trip tickets and a car rental to be able to fly to Ohio to see Sarah and Michael!

So, thank you Debbie and a SUPER HUG and thank you to Lena!! Sarah an Michael are ecstatic and cannot wait for us to come so I can finally meet Michaels side of the family and see their home.

Sarah and I are already planning on doing a LOT of swimming, going to auctions, touring Amish country and crafts. Then we are hoping that while we are there the trees will be turning into their fall colors. It has been so long since I have seen the fall colors on the East side of the country. It is also right at the time of Sarah and Michaels birthdays, WOOOHOOO, time for some fun. I bet we will have lots of Michaels family there for a reunion. I am smellin' the BBQ, it had better not be too cold!

And yes, you read it right! Mason is taking one of our cars and going on a road trip down the 1-5 corridor from here to AZ! He tried to tell me he can drive straight through for 24 hours without rest to get there.....Uh, NOT! If you are thinking like me which is "There is no way in this lifetime you will EVER drive that long" then be sure to comment so I can show him how much of a very, VERY bad idea this is. Papa tried to do it once coming back from Colorado. Let's just say, he was lucky he was not hurt, did not freeze to death and that the car was not too damaged to drive the rest of the way.

Sarah told me about this website called "Couch Surfers" and I will have to look it up before we try to reserve hotels for him. (I want him to stop at LEAST twice) But, Sarah says that people are put in touch with other people that need a couch for the night while they are traveling.

You know me, being a mom and of the era of never going with strangers. They can make it look good an then who knows, they might sell him off somewhere for hard labor, or kidnap him..ahhh!

I really gotta look closely into this. Any of you know about it? Any body living on the I-5 corridor? I think I would trust my bloggers before a "Couch Surfer" website!

Of course we are getting the car ready, and yes of course it is ending up costing us more then what is was suppose to. Gosh, taking your car in for a simple tune-up, new brakes or tires ALWAYS results in something else being wrong that costs a fortune. I remember my van a few years back, the engine light kept coming on, seemed like it cost us 3 grand each time we would take it in, then, then after they seemed to have fixed everything, it needed a new engine!! All in about a 6 month period! So, by the time we were done paying for everything, about 9k later, we could have bough another car!

At least the 4Runner is not in as sorry shape, but, still those unexpected costs when we want to save our money for the trips and those unexpected costs that pop up for college, it makes you dig in and do what we need to save and make more together. So, not only am I entering contests, having a garage sale, selling things on Craigs list hopefully on my blog by next month, we are looking for some "Couches."

I was also thinking that since he is taking the double bed with him and it will be tied on the top of the car. he could just camp out under the stars on top of the car with one of those pop up tents, at the rest stops! Or he can just sleep under the stars and hope the bugs don't get him.

He is going to be able to stuff the car full of his things which kinda has me feeling blue. I have just recently got those feelings of him not living here anymore. Especially when he said he can't stay very long when he comes. He has to get back because of starting training for Cross Country, having to move again into his permanent apt since he has been "couch surfing" with friends the last couple of months. He has grown up so much, not physically, but, mentally this past year since he has been gone. He is no longer the baby. He has learned a lot, some the hard way, some in a good way. But, he knows what it is to be an adult and how we cannot come rushing in to make everything better like we use to do or when we want to or HE wants us to. I am waiting for that phone call when he starts getting his utility bills in the mail and he calls me up like Sarah did and says "MOM! I don't LIKE being an adult anymore, I don't like getting all these bills, and they won't stop coming!" LOL!

It is terrifying, because we spend our whole life trying to protect them from the real, unfair world and now he is out there and it is slapping him in the face and there is nothing I can do. I only know that he hs the strength to handle it. He has done well and I know next year is going to go a lot smoother for him. He really grew up into a very mature adult, and learned from some really tough times on how to get through it and come out shining.

Oh, and it looks like Mason might be going to the US Championships the end of June. He is still only at about 80% healthy he says. But, hopefully he will recover even more by then. I am dying to go, but, we can't even if it is in Eugene. With the car costing us more, and who knows what will come up after this, we can't risk spending money. We are hoping he makes it past the prelims so that he is on TV so we can watch and record him racing. So please pray that he heals fast and gets back into shape so he can show everyone he is still the great runner he has always been!

OK, I had all these pictures taken so I thought I would at least share them. They are of Mason and others from AZ when they were at PAC-10 Championships. I did get a shot of Andrew Wheating who was the Champion by a lean in the 800m. He made the Olympic try outs. (One of these days, Mason will beat him, I know it) I also got some pictures of Garrett when they played the Championship game and lost to Squalicum. Garret is graduating this year, so I hope to hear about all the great things he is going to be reaching for. Now is the most important time to get those goals set and to start woring for them. He will, if he wants too. So, enjoy the pictures.

I'm Baaack!

Give me a little bit and I will be writing a post soon. We spent the weekend in Eugene, Oregon watching the PAC-10 Championships and drove home on Monday.

I just went through all the photos and Digitized them. I wish I would have taken some pictures of the great scenery while traveling since it was so beautiful, even from the freeway.

I did notice that in Oregon it is as green as Washington but, you have wide open spaces where you can see for miles with beautiful green plains and rolling hills, compared to Washington's, nothing but trees! It as if we are living in the rain forest! I think that is what I loved about Oregon when I lived there, the rolling green hills and wide open spaces.

It seems I might have brought back a case of what ever bug bit Mason these past few weeks. Of course it could be that the traveling just wore me out. But, I seem to have the headache and tummy ache Mason said he had at first. So, I am moving ever so slowly, even getting to unpacking my last bag!

At least coming back we did not experience a 3 hour delay due to traffic like we did when we went down on Friday. We made it home in record time and hit no traffic at all. Traveling at night is no fun. Can't see anything at all except lights, and unless you are going through the cities, you don't see a lot of those. I got up Monday, and could not hit the road fast enough. I love traveling in the early mornings as opposed to the humid evenings, especially when stuck in traffic going 10mph for 3 hours.

But, traveling and hotels do seem to take it out of you. Mason has regionals coming up the weekend after next. But, I do not think we will make it. And after seeing how ill Mason still is, I am not sure he will either. He did as well as we expected, and had some problems recovering at the finish line when he tried to catch his breath, so I am sure it is going to take a while to get him back into peek shape again. He has never come in less then 2nd place and to see him barely make the finish line was hard for a mom to watch. He says it is one thing to run while in pain, it is another when your lungs won't let you. Let us just hope he is seeing the doctor. He has not called us since Sunday...uh, hummm....Mason?

He did finish his meds, but, I think a chest film is necessary at this point. He had better be getting one or coach might be hearing from mom.

I did find out how to spell Mason's mumbling. You know how you ask your kids something and you have to ask them to repeat themselves because you did not understand one word except for maybe a "no" or "yeah"? Well, we sent a text to Mason asking him if he could spend the next day with us since he would not be racing and what time we could get together, have breakfast, etc.

The message we got back?

"Uh, nah, ineahne anha"

And he TELLS me all the time to "clean out my ears?" What, does my cell phone need to clean out or do I need to learn how to read a special "text language"?

This is a "Mumbling response in Text" from a freshman in College.

Now I know for sure, I do NOT need to clean out my ears and that you can actually spell out your "mumbling" in a text message.

He wrote this, I guess before he was actually awake. He did text us an hour later after we decided to go out for a walk and said, "come get me now to go to Breakfast." We were pretty much at his beckon call, or text. After getting him he let us know we only had about an hour before he had to go. But, he would meet up at the track later.

I guess since we have no heard from him in a couple days, a mumbling text is better then no text!

The Championship will be on TV this afternoon, so I might watch it. They most likely will not show the prelims, which Mason was in. But, we can watch the thrilling 5000m run we watched while there that Mason's team mate Brendon Bethke,won. If you saw the post where Flotrack did the "Work out Wednesday" you will see that Mason was practicing with Brendon. It was thrilling down to the last 10th of a second race! I was so sad we had forgot the camera that 2nd day. Especially since Mason's friend Garrett and his parents where there also. We got to see Garrett up close but, waved while I sat in Handicapped and they were waaaay up in the stands.

So, look for a new post soon. I promise more details. And more pictures. Hopefully it will be soon.

To late for the Tulip Festival!

It is bad enough that I did not get my daffodils planted in time. You all know I have been moving like a slug!! But, then we decided to go to the Tulip festival in Skagit Valley. And we were about a week late!!

The last time we went was years ago when the kids where small and I did not have a digital camera. So, I have a bunch of really cute pictures burried in a box with a thousand other photos that are not in any order. So, if you think I am going to go through them to find them and scan and post, you are out of your bloody mind!! These are all the pictures I got stamps and stickers and paper for to make albums and frames for. Yeah, right, like that is going to happen with the 300 other projects I have not completed yet!

Anyway, we should have gone during the week, even though most all of the fields were bare or full of daffodils that needed to be dead headed because the traffic was horrific!! Even with the very small amount that was left! People were everywhere and it took us an hour to get back to the freeway, which should have only taken us 10 minutes. I was a little nervous since the tank was close to empty...you know how men are, "OH, Don't get your panties in a wad, there is PLENTY of gas!" If you knew of all the places I was stranded by men who said this, you would understand why I wear thongs.

Anyway, we tried to go by Tulip Town, which is where everyone goes for arts and crafts and goodies from the local artists and bakeries. But, it was so packed! No where to park and I could not imagine trying to manevur my walker through it all. People are not so friendly when it comes to my huge rolling walker getting in their way.

Believe it or not the festival and activities are going on until May 3rd! There are no fields of color to adore and take pictures of, but, lots of stuff to spend money on!

I made Papa promise that next year, we would make sure to plan this sooner and that we would save to take the helicopter ride and come during the WEEK and not the WEEKEND when it is 10x more crowded! I have been in a helicopter, but, Papa has not. It is a blast!! I have been in almost every kind of aircraft except the jets dad flew. But, I was always able to go inside and see them. I can't imagine how beautiful the fields are from above! If you go to the site, you will be able to see wonderful pictures of the fields. But, I only wanted to post the pictures we were able to take. We had always put off going because the kids were always doing something or I was working, etc. Now, there is no excuse to miss it next year! We are going early and buying bulbs and crafts and taking that helicopter ride even if I have to sell something to make it happen!

I am just praying that even though I got the daffodils in the ground late, they will still be good for next year. I am not sure. If anyone knows...let me know! I cannot plant tulips since the Deer will eat those. But, they will not touch the Daffodils, thank you kind animals! Every thing is getting done very slowly. I work on one thing at a time and the big stuff I have to wait till the weekend for so Papa can help. If our soil did not consist of mostly rocks, it would not be so bad! Plus we have 100 Rhodies and Azealias planted everywhere that have become spindly and overgrown we need to get rid of. Ugghh...so much to do, but, not enough energy or strength. Use to be I could spend all day out in the yard. Now I am lucky for an hour before I need to come in.

I am glad we got the pictures we did get and hope you like them. Next year, I promise they will be much better!

We did make it to Costco in time for gas. Phew. And we had never seen the parking lot so empty! We were so excited to be able to shop with hardly any people...LOL! Until we got to the door and they said they closed 15 minutes earlier. Shoot! If we were not stuck in traffic so darn long! oh, well, there was nothing THAT important that it could not wait till tomorrow when it would definitly be crowded, except for the gas which thankfully stayed open later!

She is a lot like me...scary. Trying to find her footing in the blogging world who, like myself, wants to talk about EVERYTHING, family, faith, and crafts. What to do...hummm! Another chatter box like myself...who cannot post a response with less then 500 words.

You can tell it has been a while since I have posted here. I am trying to figure out what to do, like she is...but, I have been crafting and spending time with the kids since they were home here for a month.

It is just me and Papa, plus the animals now. And then the last couple months have been nothing but drama and trama, (assualted, ripped off, son in a pickle, BIG pickle but, he is ok now) so I haven't really wanted to post, feeling like my life has turned upside down and confused about what I am doing and where I am going. These are things I can talk in general terms and need to vent about, but, I also want to start a new life with my disability doing my crafts and hopefully making a little income since I no longer work. And I want to have a life, outside the house, though I can't get out because of not being able to drive for now, or just saving money on gas and limiting my traveling out and about.

Being disabled...I live a lot through my computer and feel I can be a part of the outside world through the www. I have met wonderful people and found some great blogs. This one, The Mom Nerd, is one that seems to be my twin. I posted that we are "Twin Daughters of Different Mothers". Remember the album by Dan Folgelberg and Tim Wiseberg called "Twin Son's of Different Mothers"? But, not knowing her age...I might have dated myself and completely confused her!

The way she writes, I can hear her speak, and understand the dilemma of where she wants her blog to go and what she should concentrate on the most. Everywhere girl! Nothing wrong with talking about everything! Which you all know..I will talk about anything and everything also and cannot write a post or blog with less then 1000 characters. So, I found a similarity in her and what she was writing about.

Oh yeah...she is having a contest for cash!
